Beat Crusaders



Beat Crusaders (”ビート・クルセイダース”), também conhecido por BECR, é uma banda japonesa de J-indie. Eles se destacam por aparecem publicamente com seus rostos cobertos por mascaras, que consiste em um desenho deles mesmos impressos por uma impressora matricial de pontos.

O Beat Crusaders foi formado em 1997 por Hidaka Toru, com a idéia de uma banda experimental de U.S. Lo-Fi Indie Pop. A reunião dos outros membros se deu pelos testes realizados ao redor de  Shimokitazawa (Tóquio). Eles se caracterizam por sua criatividade com o uso de sintetizadores e tinham como influencia as bandas Weezer e Rentals. Em 1998, o Beat Crusaders já começava a se apresentar em público, suas apresentações eram tão loucas e divertidas que não se podia perder por nada. Em 1999 eles lançaram seu primeiro single independente “NEVER POP ENOUGH e.p.” e tendo “E.C.D.T.” como musica de trabalho. Quatro meses depois lançaram seu primeiro álbum “HOWLING SYMPHONY OF…”, que teve ótimas criticas pelas revistas de musica. E isso serviu como influencia para varias outras bandas presentes na cena alternativa/independente Japonesa. Em 2000 lançaram seu segundo single de nome “Firestarter” seguido do segundo álbum “All You Can Eat”, e com o tempo além de seus singles de álbuns eles também lançaram vários álbuns de compilações, covers, participações com outras bandas como Captain Hedgehog, Rude Bones, YOUR SONG IS GOOD etc.

Em agosto de 2003, três dos quatro membros deixaram a banda, agora ficando unicamente  Hidaka Toru o fundador do Beat Crusaders. Mais tarde quatro novos membros foram recrutados(Taro,Kubota,Keitamo e Mashita), e estão na formação atual da banda. Os três outros membros que deixaram a banda, formaram outra banda de nome ANITA CHILI PEPPERS.

In 1999 they released their first independent single “NEVER POP ENOUGH ep” and having “ECDT” how music work. Four months later they released their first album “Howling SYMPHONY OF …” which received widespread critical acclaim by music magazines. And it served as influences for several other bands present within the alternative / independent Japanese. In 2000 they released their second single called “Firestarter” followed by the second album “All You Can Eat,” and with time beyond their singles album they have released several compilation albums, covers, shares with other bands like Captain Hedgehog, Rude Bones, etc. YOUR SONG IS GOOD.

In August 2003, three of the four members left the band, Toru Hidaka only now becoming the founder of the Beat Crusaders. Later four new members were recruited (Taro, Kubota, and Keitamo Mashita) and are in the current lineup of the band. The three other members who left the band formed another band named ANITA CHILI PEPPERS.
